The Caroline Human Services Council, Inc. has been designated by the Caroline County Commissioners as the Local Management Board for Caroline County and authorized to receive state Children's Cabinet Interagency Funds.

Caroline Human Services Council, Inc. administers over 1 million dollars in state funds in the form of grants to county government, local agencies, businesses and non-profit organizations that serve children and youth.

The programs funded are designed to support the result areas chosen by the Human Services Council:

  • Healthy Children
  • Children Successful in School
  • Communities that Support Family Life

Awards Announced FY 11

In FY 11 with the financial support of the Chaney Foundation, 18 Mini Grants of $500 or under, were awarded.  The following is a list of the projects funded:

  • Denton Child Development Center (Books to Remember)
  • Department of Social Services (Family Investment Program & Child Support Enforcement)
  • C.A.S.A. of Caroline (Trainings)
  • Caroline County Mental Health Clinic (Birth Certificates)
  • Caroline County Drug Court (Incentives)
  • Caroline County Prevention Office (Educational Materials)
  • Character Counts (Training)
  • Caroline County Health Department (Health Fairs)
  • Caroline County Health Department (Language Link Service)
  • Tender Hearts Daycare (Kinesthetic Learning Activities)
  • Community Matters (Community Meals and Fellowship)
  • Town of Greensboro (2) (Fishing Derby and Autumn Festival)
  • Interfaith Housing (2) (School Supplies and Computer Training)
  • Caroline County Recreation and Parks (2) Fun Fridays and Basketball Program)
  • Ridgely United Methodist (Food Pantry)

Two FY11 Community Initiative Grants were awarded.  Caroline County Recreation and Parks for a Volunteer Program called "Give Us an Hour" and Chesapeake College Child Resource Center/ Caroline County Daycare Association for trainings.
